Pre-University Preparation

This program assists students who are looking to pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees through the following activities:

  • One-on-One Coaching. Through coaching sessions, we help students better define their goals, determine an appropriate field of study, and identify suitable programs at reputable universities which will help them achieve their goals.
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) preparation. In order to be admitted into any university program, students must score well on their TOEFL exams. We women enrolls all of our pre-university students into a 9-month TOEFL preparation course and provides any additional English tutoring as needed for free.
  • Workshops and Discussion Groups. Because the education system in Burma is very poorly developed, many of our students may have substantial work experience and years of schooling, but still lack the critical thinking skills needed to be successful in a higher academic setting. Throughout the year, We women organizes student discussion groups and facilitates workshops on such subjects as debate, leadership responsibility, and essay-writing.
  • Job assistance. During their preparation period, it is important that the women have time to study and have a chance to organize their requested documents. We women will support the women who do not have a stable job by connecting them with ethical employers. A manageable work schedule will allow the women to fully prepare for university.
